Dups Wijayawardhana Legacy As CEO of Empire Avenue? A “Nightmare” Of His Own Making

Being a customer of Empire Avenue was a nightmare for a lot of people.

According to Alan Gray of NEwsblaze, Empire Avenue had the second worst customer service in his time on the internet.

That’s a deathknell for a small startup that refuses to protect their customers from their own “goon squad.”

Towards the end of Dups time at Empire Avenue, even answering basic customer service inquiries became a bridge to far for Dups.

With a “goon squad” as reported by Chris Voss of The Chris Voss Show, certain customers (later leaders) being able to viciously attack other customers at will, with no protection from those in authority at Empire Avenue, it’s clear that Dups gave no concern to customer service issues, nor safety or cybersecurity issues.

From doxing customers to violent and non violent threats, cyberbullying and intimidation the “Goon squad” does it all.

One legacy Dups has is that his “goon squad” helped change Twitter’s abuse policy.

We would like to cordially thanks Dups Wijayawardhana for being such a horrible CEO that his companies “goon squad” helped change Twitter’s abuse policy.

There is a silver lining in every “goon squad” cloud.

However, according to reports, Dups remains a consultant for PeopleBrowsr, aka Kred, owner of EmpireKred.

The “goon squad” remain leaders (at least) at EmpireKred, able to at least attempt to “goon” it up against unwary consumers.

Gareth Davies is perhaps the single most abusive predatorial person I have encountered on the internet.

Next to him, the next most vicious are Nance Larson and the rest of the “goon squad.”

From CEO/Founder Director of Empire Avenue to Online “Customer Support” At #EvolvePR #socialmedia

Duleepa “Dups” Wijayawardhana (@dups), founder/CEO of Empire Avenue now does online support for Evolve PR.

This is astonishing and one can only hope that Dups doesn’t allow a “goon squad” to attack customers of Evolve PR as Chris Voss, noted social media expert reported he did at Empire Avenue.

Attacks included doxing, violent and non violent threats, and cyberbullying for which “goon squad” leaders from Empire Avenue were suspended, warned or moderated for by Twitter and Instagram.

Over 5 posts on my blogs I documented issues with Empire Avenue, from their rogue volunteers, running a “wall of shame” on Brands, attacking Brands reputations online, not answering complaints, having a “goon squad” of endorsed volunteers attacking customers who complained, refusing to discipline internally thereby encouraging more attacks on Brands, etc. What I witnessed was the worst travesty in the annals of customer service I have ever seen. After a month of private discussions with EA to change things, I went public. Only then did they begin to change, but the attacks on me and others grew by their “goon squad.” In the end, I went to EA’s Angel Investor and EA had to shut down its Chat Room and Chat Mod “goons squad.” EA shamelessly has never apologized or produced it damning chat logs as promised by their CEO. Evolve PR also better be careful how he “prioritizes communication.”  Many customers simply noted that customer service had completely stopped at Empire Avenue…

Paul Houston (@podcast101) ran the an early application addon tool for Empire Avenue known as Empire Avenue #EaV tips.

The tool made buying and selling easier on Empire Avenue, and collected other data from the API and presented it in a graphical fashion.

After Empire Avenue announced a partnership with Avenue.io on August 1, 2013, Paul noted that Empire Avenue was now “in bed” with Ben.

Ben is Ben Arledge of Edmonton, Canada.  (e)Ben on Empire Avenue.

 

 

Other customers didn’t find Ben’s site, now available through Empire Avenue that useful.

 

 

Paul’s site included some data, such as new users over 4 years that apparently was depressing to Gareth Davies.

 

Paul had issues with the amount of API calls he was allowed (150) as compared to Bens 1000.

 

At one point, as so often happens on Twitter, Paul was suspended for what seemed to him inexplicable reasons.

Nance was kind enough to welcome him back online once his suspension was lifted.

What is Chris Sandys (@usafa_93)? (Besides a #Leader at #EmpireKred?)

It’s honestly hard to know what Chris Sandys is, because he denies being pretty much anything.

I feel bad writing this because Chris Sandys served in the Air Force and is a USAF graduate.

My uncle, a retired CHP officer, also served in the Air Force (enlisted) and my family has a long history of military service.

My dad was an officer in the Navy during Vietnam, Uncle in Korea, Great Uncle died in WWII, Great grandpa was an artillery man in WWI.

That Chris Sandys engages in such behavior to attack his own fellow empire avenue players and customers truly hurts my heart.

That he treats anyone at all in such a manner is atrocious, and it’s sad he’s a Leadeer at Empire Avenue (now EmpireKred.)

This is hard to believe, as he’s been quoted in newspapers as a spokesman for his employer, Belpoint.

Mr. Sandys has recently been quoted in Bloomberg.

Mr. Sandys, who seems to have an overactive imagination, likes to make false allegations about his own customers (as he is a leader at Empire Avenue, now EmpireKred.)

I tried to tell Empire Avenue about the bullying.  I was their customer, of course I communicated with Empire Avenue.

It’s important to note what a “Leader” at Empire Avenue is.

Until I asked about why Gareth Davies was cyberbullying people both on the Empire Avenue site, and on other social media platforms such as @twitter.

Then Empire Avenue support both refused to stop the cyberbullying of customers, and told me they were tired of my complaints.

Chris Sandys appeared on my blog and wanted that information kept “off the record.”

I refused.

This is hysterically bad customer service.

Empire Avenue also denied Chris Sandys was anything other than who knows what…

Despite selling the leaders package which gave control of the marketing and other departments.

Gareth Davies has been suspended by Twitter for tweeting my private information and violent threats.

He was warned yet again for violent threats.

Additionally Twitter recognized my copyright and removed an abusive image from Gareth’s timeline.

Gareth, admits to being a troll that “found” me, and tweets his intent to bully.

For the record, I was not hiding from a company I was a customer of.

Empire Avenue never asked me to provide my CDL or did anything to establish my identity, besides attack me on Twitter and elsewhere.

Gareth Davies posted my full name and address on the link in @wandabeheards second tweet, listed above, on G+.

Imagine, a company I’m a customer of doxes me, then a sadistic asshole blames me for that doxing.

I obviously provided my identity to the San Francisco DA’s office and CA DoJ, along with twitter (DMCA takedown) when those law enforcement offices acted on my behalf to inquire of Twitter’s conduct in failing to moderate this tremendous abuse of their customers.

Not coincidentally Empire Avenue’s TOS didn’t require use of your full legal name (neither does Twitter’s) and my Empire Avenue account complied with their naming policy in effect at the time.

A company is responsible for overseeing its reps and volunteers that are endorsed and sanctioned by the company, in making sure they are in line with a Company code of conduct. Let me ask you something, if you were to go into Walmart or Nordstoms, make a complaint with Customer Service would you expect or allow yourself to continually be attacked and bullied by their Company volunteer staff? Then over a month it continues and gets worse the more you complain? I’m warning everyone with no question to avoid Empire Avenue. If your Brand comes under the ire of one of their rogue Chat Mods, Empire Avenue can’t protect the bashing of your Brand and doesn’t seem to care in my opinion. I’m telling people to run from this company, keep your money or ask for a refund. This is a perfect example of a social media fail everyone should be blogging about and making lesson plans on!

So, if Chris Sandys isn’t a principal, nor an agent, and is clearly not a disinterested party, what does that leave?

Gareth Davies, a leader of Empire Avenue (now EmpireKred) has tweeted to Empire Avenue Brand Manager/Admin Steven L. Johnson that he cannot be blocked on Twitter.

This renders a key safety feature designed to protect people from predators like Gareth Davies null and void.

 

Twitter has been made aware of this safety flaw, however EmpireKred’s non response to Gareth Davies ability and willingness to threaten and dox EmpireKred’s own customers is telling.

Gareth Davies has an extensive history of doxing EmpireKred customers, and has been suspended for tweeting a customers private information, violent threats, and non violent threats.

Chris Sandys (@usafa_93) also a leader of EmpireKred’s has been warned for violent threats.

In fact, Team Leader Nance Larson tweeted that Gareth Davies is not in a position of leadership at Empire Avenue, an abject lie.

She also denied her own position as a leader.

When seemingly responsible authority will not act, it’s clear that this is a business that is out of control.

Empire Avenue advertised their leaders package on twitter and other social media platforms as follows,

The technical staff will continue to support the platform, manage the database, and provide normal tech support. Beyond that – it’s up to US to chart the marketing course to get to 2000 leaders. Longer term, Leaders may have an even greater influence on the platform’s future functionality.

This is a truly amazing opportunity. The Empire Avenue Leaders will develop and test new marketing messages, new ways to recruit – and retain – new members, and new ways to interact with each other. Plus, we can explore new ways to make the game fun and rewarding for all.”

 

It’s amazing that the leadership of EmpireKred will not deal responsibly with the abuse and predatory acts agains their own customers.

The EmpireKred “Goon Squad” took their abuse on Twitter against customers, which triggered a CA DOJ investigation into Twitter’s handling of the matter, and the San Francisco District Attorney’s office intervened twice.

With Kred purchasing Empire Avenue and changing the name to EmpireKred, one would have hoped that a change of leadership would take place, however customers still report witnessing cyber bullying and being suspended for asking Kred to fix bugs.
