After leaving the room to let Taylor stew, Michael returned, removed his jacket and rolled his chair closer to Taylor. Using information gleaned from the interview, he now had to go for the confession.
“At this point, they need to move in,” said the instructor, Supervisory Special Agent Christopher J. Zisi. “Invade their comfort zone. Let them smell the chili you had for lunch. They can’t think straight.”
Mr. Zisi talks a little bit about his time in the FBI on his social media but is circumspect about his time which is expected of a man committed to his duty & mission and not seeking the limelight for what he does.
America needs more people like Christopher Zisi in the FBI and anywhere, quite frankly.
Mr. Comey has been subpoenaed by the House to testify.
Happy Thanksgiving. Got a subpoena from House Republicans. I’m still happy to sit in the light and answer all questions. But I will resist a “closed door” thing because I’ve seen enough of their selective leaking and distortion. Let’s have a hearing and invite everyone to see.
House Republicans can ask me anything they want but I want the American people to watch, so let’s have a public hearing. Truth is best served by transparency. Let me know when is convenient.
Mr. Zisi is a 25 year veteran of the FBI. He has a law degree from Tulane and handled & white collar crime in the North East. He has worked overseas. He is a former FBI supervisor and trained recruits at Quantico.
Hah! Wait until you see my review tomorrow, it cuts right to FBI relations with local partners. I think Director Freeh made great strides in these relations and Mueller and Comey destroyed them again
Apparently Brainna Wu went digging through archives and found a 2 year old blog I’d taken out of publiction where I said she’s a “former GOP fundraiser” and is wrong for Progressives.
Brianna, a former GOP staff member for Trent Lott (R -MS) and intern for Michael Steele apparently worked for 5 years for the GOP according to her own tweets.
@glennf Did you know I spent a summer interning for Michael Steele, who I thought got a very unfair rap in the press.
Okay, that’s fair to base it off that Tweet. I was trying to sum up a summer where I attended a lot of fundraisers in the evening as part of my job and saw a lot of really weird shit. It was an imprecise statement on Twitter, back in 2014 when there was only 140 characters.
But, I’m telling you directly, I never worked as a fundraiser.
Brianna’s job duties included some activities linked to fundraising.
That’s certainly reasonable and expected in Washington D.C. where networking is a critical job function.
She was not a “Fundraiser” which some may take to mean “rain maker” or “bundler” or something illicit.
I apologize for any negative implications that may have been inferred by others based upon the title of the blog.
The Democrats admitted in court proceedings to not being…. democratic.
Heather Greven, from the Bay Area, is completely in tune with the corrupt heart of The Democrats and DNC, choosing to lie and evade rather than answer a simple question.
Why did @janzforcongress claim billboards by known fraud Scott Dworkin were put up by constituents?
As Ms. Greven told me to continue “screaming into the echo chamber,” I did what any self respecting Fresnan would do and I wrote my Congressman.
The letter is attached:
__________
Hon Rep. Costa,
My name is (REDACTED)
I am writing to inform you how divisive politics, which I believe to be “identity politics” has been used by Andrew Janz campaign manager to lie and deceive. And slander myself on twitter.
So you have some idea of how she is incorrect, I have to tell you a little bit about myself.
I was born in Wenatchee, WA in 1969, moved to Phoenix when 2, then to Fresno in 1977 the summer before I started second grade.
I attended Easterby Elementary in south east Fresno from second to fifth grade. At the start of my 6th grade year I was sent to Holland Project TALENT (now Bullard TALENT), the first magnet school in FUSD.
Mrs. Harris was my principal. Her son Leon was my basketball coach. My 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Mendes, was one of my favorite teachers. My 7th grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hetrick was disabled, with what I believe was a congenital hip condition.
You may know other famous Fresnans who attended Holland Project TALENT. Audra McDonald started there the third year (I believe). She was in 7th grade when I was in 8th grade.
The school was pretty diverse in staff, mostly women. The drama teacher whom I shared wtih Audra (and I have not .01% of her talent) was a black woman whose name I have forgotten over the years.
I graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1987. My friend from Holland and Roosevelt, Rabbi Elliott Tepperman was arrested protesting for Dreamers in Congressman Rep. Lance’s office. I have advocated for Dreamers online on my variou social media channels and am also trying to shame Rep. Lance into dropping charges simultaneously.
I believe I was taught by some of the best teachers in FUSD, both at Holland where the staff was handpicked district wide and at Roosevelt where Mr. Sischo and the staff were extremely dedicated to the students.
I believe this is borne out by the record of Roosevelt in the 80’s in the Academic Decathlon where we were district champs for years. The team my year finished second in the state.
I have family in Tulare County that came here during the Dust Bowl. My dads grandpa, a WWI veteran lost his farm in Missouri and settled in Tulare where he worked fields and started a second family.
My grandma, who was a teenager was left in Missouri. She married my dads dad, and moved to Idaho where his family settled.
My moms dad lost his farm in Kansas, and made his way west with a young family with stops in Utah, Nevada, Central Valley (Madera, Salinas) before going to Idaho.
My great grandpa married a Hispanic/American Indian woman and had a second family. Thus my family is ethnically diverse.
I have a picture of my grandma, in her 60’s visiting her half sisters in Tulare in the late 70’s or early 80’s. There is no difficulty picking out my Swedish grandma in that picture.
My Dad volunteered for US navy in 60’s when his deferments were up. He was sent to Officer Candidates School then supply school and served on USS Reeves in the Sea of Japan.
Mom and Dad were lucky as young Lt Jg to be able to live in Japan off base and experience living in a Japanese “modern” dwelling. It had paper walls and indoor plumbing. They loved Japan.
Returning to the US after getting out of the Navy, Dad answered an ad in the Twin Falls paper and was hired by Crawford & Company, an independent adjusting firm. It was with them he was promoted to Branch Manger and why we moved to Fresno.
I believe music can convey information and teach. I would give you 3 songs to both describe me, and how I feel about Ms. Greven’s treatment of myself.
I believe Ms. Greven disdains me for my question about why Mr. Janz twitter account @janzforcongress claimed billboards by a known to DEMOCRATS fraud Scott Dworkin (@funder) were claimed by the account to have been put up by “constituents.”
The tweet in question LINKS the Fresno Bee article wherein the correct PAC, Scott Dworkins PAC was identified. Why the lie?
— Voter Protection Project (@voterprotectpac) June 12, 2017
Ms. Greven is from the East Bay, and her treatment of me is very familiar to how others from the Bay Area have treated people.
She labeled me a “conservative” and pinned the tweet with the blog I wrote about her.
Why did I write that she was a “scumbag”? She told me to keep “screaming into the echo chamber.”
The same BLOG she linked to has my blog calling Donald Trump a xenophobe and extremist in 2015, support for a LGBT advocate beaten at work, Jacie Leopold. I have advocated for gay marriage and gay rights nationally and helped boycott Indiana when Pence signed his discriminatory bill.
Rep Costa, Judge Oppliger was friends of my parents and his son Trevor, now also a DDA like Mr. Janz was a child hood friend.
Never in my wildest dreams would I think that a campaign by a Fresno DA would lie about me.
Especially one promising to serve everyone with honesty, integrity, etc, etc.
— Heather Grevenworth 🏳️🌈 (@heathergreven) August 1, 2018
No one owes a Democrat their vote. Anyone questioning a Democrat candidate is NOT a conservative.
There is a lot of converage of Mr. Dworkin in main stream media and the left. Splinter, Daily Beast covered his allaged fraudulent PAC. The Daily KOS and ProgressiveArmy.com have written about him. Democrat opposition researcher Will Caskey wrote about him in 2017 on his Medium.
The campaign of @janzforcongress not only claimed Scott Dworkin’s billboards were put up by constituents, the campaign solicited aid from Dworkin and thanked him for it.
How is this different from the shady acts of other Congressman?
I believe Ms. Greven signifies the failing of both parties. Divisiveness, by design, and attack a person attacking a question rather than address the issue.
As you consider the health of The Democrats know that people ARE choosing to walk away and this is seen by votes for The Greens which are costing Democrats to some degree.
How do I know this?
Andrew Janz friend in Hollywood Alyssa Milano told me so.
Alyssa Milano retweeted this tweet by @janzforcongress.
No US citizen owes a Democrat their vote. It is unfair to categorize every Green voter and vote as a “protest” vote.
You know what sucks?
Because of our unwillingness to pass policy that protects our election integrity, I immediately think the Green Party votes tonight are Russian meddling.
Why else would anyone cast a protest vote in Ohio when there’s so much at stake?#OH12
I am a disabled Fresnan subsequent to a fall off a 2 story roof at work. Heather Greven is a hater from the Bay Area deflecting from pertinent inquiries into the campaign.
Replacing an alleged liar with a known liar is not progress.
I had pinned my hopes on Andrew Janz, Deputy District Attorney in his race to beat Devin Nunes, Republican incumbent in California 22.
After all I had written about the xenophobia of Donald Trump back in 2015 and had watched as White Nationalists had taken over the GOP despite my admonitions against such networking.
Unfortunately Andrew Janz, as Progressives have written in the Fresno Bee, is “More of the same.”
He and his campaign manager Heather Greven are the same sort of swamp monsters and corrupt politicians that inhabit Washington D.C. now.
My great grandfather settled in Tulare during the Dust Bowl and I have a large, multicultural family in Tulare County.
Though I do not reside inside Congressional district 22, I do reside in Fresno County where Mr. Janz is a deputy district attorney for the Fresno County DA’s office.
I grew up with a coworker of Mr. Janz, Trevor Oppliger. Judge Oppliger was friends with my parents.
My uncle is retired CHP and was Public Affairs Officer for the Visalia CHP. He is currently working for Tulare County DA”s office as an investigator.
How do I know that Janz is a fundamentally dishonest politician?
He claimed that billboards that were funded by known scammer/grifter Scott Dworkin were put up by “constituents.”
According to Splinter, the PAC Dworkin funneled the donations he raised to,
According to a piece out on Wednesday by The Daily Beast, one of these new anti-Trump PACs, the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, has been sinking its donors’ money into consultants and its own legal expenses rather than tangible action to fight back against the president.
Journalist Greg Greenwald notes that,
In fact, this charlatan exposed as a #Resistance profiteer & grifter not only claims to be one of the “leaders” of the #Resistance but also says he’s an “@amjoyshow on MSNBC contributor.”
The coverage by the Fresno Bee which @janzforcongress correctly identified the PAC behind the billboards but did not explicitly link scammer Dworkin, instead identifying Nate Lerner as the spokesperson.
This is what happens if u obstruct the #TrumpRussia investigation. I hope Rep Devin Nunes enjoys having these billboards up in his district. https://t.co/8Oe9SXApcm
Keep screaming into the echo chamber my friend. @ me all you want it's free!
— Heather Grevenworth 🏳️🌈 (@heathergreven) July 31, 2018
The lies, deflection and character assasination/smears are precisley what is wrong with Congress NOW. Why send Janz to DC when we can have all that from him on Twitter and not give him any ability or power to do more damage?
In 2015 I wrote about the rising tide of Xenophobia I was seeing and feeling in the GOP.
As a Republican this was worrying, however the party saw fit to nominate (and the country elect) Donald Trump.
This has only emboldened the worst dregs of society to crawl out of the swamps and into Washington DC.
Or at least they are trying.
It was no accident Richard Spencer showed up in Washington DC close to the inaurguration. The “alt right” expected to be welcomed into power with open arms.
Their being “disavowed” by Donald Trump was a surprise to them.
However the same mechanism that networked on Twitter, and promoted the spread of what has become active nazis, still openly exists and can do the same thing in any election.
Then Lone Conservative editor Brian Brathovd, featured in this video with Milo Y saying “hi” to then Breitbart Contributor Kassy Dillon, is NOW Richard B. Spencer’s bodyguard and a Daily Stormer contributor (according to Brians Gab.ai account, @caerulus_rex.)
The prominence of the “alt right” social media stars is mentioned elsewhere and their rise chronicled by Joe Bernstein of Buzzfeed.
Don Blankenship is a convict who chose to run for US Senate in West Virginia.
Mr. Blankenship was CEO of Massey Energy Company, was charged with multiple charges, including felony conspiracy for his role in a mine explosion that killed 29 miners.
Mr. Blankenship was convicted of one misdemeanor charge of conspiring to willfully violate mine safety and health standards and sentenced to one year in prison and a $250,00.00 fine.
Fresno Bee journalist Mackenzie Mays is from West Virginia and speaks of the impact of the mine explosion on her life. And the impact on her community.
Cory was my friend. He was giggly and adorable and kind. Tommy is, as they say, good people. Thanks @jamieson for treating their story with care — and for shining a national light on what is, for many people, a traumatic run for senate. https://t.co/6kURPTp9y1
P.S. Mitch McConnell’s cocaine tweet is just more proof that he is not an America person.
In the spirit of denouncing, I’d like to denouce Don Blankenship as a royal asshole and defintely NOT an American.
Let me tell you why I believe this.
My family came to America in the 1600’s. We settled all across the Eastern seaboard, north and south.
Over time my family migrated west, and my grandparents and great grandparents ended up in Kansas and Missouri.
I’m not certain who fought on which side of that Civil War, but I’d assume I had family on both sides.
Fast forward to WW1. My great grandfather served in France in the American Expeditionary Forces.
Returning home to Missouri to farm, his farm up and blew away in the Dust Bowl. He left his teenage daughter, (my grandmother) with his family and migrated to Tulare, CA where he worked fields and started a second family.
Marrying a local woman, he started a new family. (my cousins pictured here.)
My uncle, pictured in back, is a USAF veteran (enlisted), retired CHP and currently a Tulare County DA’s office investigator and grows produce in the Central Valley of CA near Exeter.
My grandparents also lost farms in Missouri and Kansas and migrated west.
My moms dad worked on New Deal public works projects in Idaho. He was a carpenter. Due to the WW2 war effort, he also mined during WW2 near Elko, NV, being to old for the draft.
My great uncle was a pipe fitter building ships for US Navy in Portland.
As working class people, my grandparents raised families, and my parents were among the first to go to college.
I have relatives that served in nearly every war, with an Uncle in Korea, another stationed in Fort Ord in inter war period and my dad volunteered for the US Navy after his deferments were up.
My ex father in law, a Marine, became a psych tech and program director before retiring as Acting Director (I believe) at Porterville Developmental Center.
My ex wifes family also has people working at PDC.
My dad volunteered after college and went to OCS, then to Supply School, serving on USS Reeves, as an officer, in the Sea of Japan. Their mission was to escort aircraft carriers and rescue downed pilots, and the occasional “boat person” refugee.
Small town Idaho is unique in that emergency services don’t get done unless the locals do them.
My cousins ran EMS out of the family store. One cousin got her degree and moved to San Francisco where she’s a surgical nurse.
M eldest cousin does heavy construction work, after learning to drive on my grandpas lap at age 5 or so.
My grandpa started wtih a mule team, and began trucking and doing baling for farmers, amongst other odd jobs.
Here’s my cousin and his company hard at work on the US Naval Reservation near USS Arizona and Missouri.
*I’m not sure where this picture was taken, I suspect Utah, but my cousin digs BIG holes.
If you are lost in the backcountry my “Deplorable” cousins are the people that CAN and WILL rescue you. My family aren’t the kind of people to abandon you in a dark mine.
My dad is a retired Claims Manager for a large third party adminstrator/independent claims adjusting firm out of Atlanta, GA.
Childhood friends from Fresno grew up to work for the GOP, working for Governor Pete Wilson (R) and doing lobbying in DC.
They also wrote Netfile, the system the FEC uses to track campaign donations after graduating from Fresno State.
Another childhood friend, T. Oppliger, is now a Deputy District Attorney in Fresno (son of Judge Oppliger) and works with Democrat candidate Andrew Janz.
Mr. Janz is challenging incumbent nincompoop, Devin Nunes, for California District 22.
I don’t recognize Devin Nunes as a Republican according to my lights, nor Don Blankenship.
I believe the party is extremely damaged, AND unwilling to take corrective course to disassociate with the nazis and white nationalists racists running for office.
I don’t believe Don Blankenship is much of an American, at all. I think he’s a horrible employer and a safety risk to anyone working for him.
I fear that the rise of nazis in the GOP is NOT an aberration. It’s a natural outgrowth of the coalition building undertaken by GOP during the election.
I am supporting Andrew Janz for Congress as a result.
This is my first ever JOTY with 2 winners. (Actually first ever JOTY, but hey.)
And I had to pick 2. Both cover interests near and dear to my heart.
Kristen, who is a great journalist, covers abuse on twitter, covered Milo fairly (which is basically unheard of and yes he is a provocateur and troll, no he’s not a Nazi) and the strange and wondrous world of science, ethical concerns and all.
I would like to explain my background a bit.
Although living in Fresno, I have had the great luck to be able to spend a LOT of time in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. As a tech journalist, much of what Kristen covers originates in and around the Bay Area.
The schools I attended (well funded magnet schools) took frequent field trips to the central coast and San Francisco/Bay Area.
We also frequented the Bay Area in Cub Scout and Boy Scouts trips.
My Dad is a retired Claims Manager. As a kid he would take marketing trips disguised as family vacations to the Bay Area where a great many insurance companies are headquartered. (If you want to talk about gentrification since 1970’s, that preference is a great place to start.)
My sister, loved Esprit and shopping, and I loved comic books. The comic book shops seemed to be in places in San Francisco where not many tourists went. Besides the usual touristy places you’d expect, I have seen and experienced much of San Francisco.
Other than places I’ve actually lived and grandparents homes I’ve spent more time in the Bay Area than anywhere else. The Central Coast (Cambria/Pismo is a close second to SF.)
When Ms. Brown talks about seismic vulnerabilities I know exactly what she’s talking about due to my own profession, and having been dragged out (I kinda didn’t have that much fun) on claims with my Dad since I was very young.
I worked fires (dummy end of the measuring stick), car accidents (dodging cars while diagramming accident scenes is always fun) and worked the Coalinga earthquake. Yep, I at 10 or 11 (?) worked earthquake claims.
My dad enjoyed working claims better than being in management. He didn’t keep a full case load, but he worked overflow and a few accounts he enjoyed.
He kept the juicy account, working the Curry account when The Curry Company had the concessions contract in Yosemite.
As a kid in Fresno, I attended diverse schools. I doubt they were perfectly diverse, but they were diverse. I have no idea what “perfectly diverse” is beyond a standard activists state frequently on twitter.
The High School I attended was bussed INTO to desegregate. That is, WHITE KIDS were bussed in from Hoover. Their 9th grade class was bussed into Roosevelt High School in south east Fresno . The 9th graders within my district went to Sequoia.
Faced with such wondrous choices I thought I’d better go where my parents expected and choose Roosevelt. It was a surprise in 9th grade when I thought I’d see my friends from the home district and they were nowhere to be found.
As a sophomore, Roosevelt opened the School of the Performing Arts, and the kids from Hoover were no longer bussed down. I assume that desegregation from Hoover no longer necessary because a lot of kids district wide were bussed in to Roosevelt, and many were white.
Lots of my friends are pictured here. I went to Easterby with Shaun Lopez and Matt Denny, and Shaun played little league with me and tennis. He was number 1 varsity and I, 2.
(Yes we made a fake chess club that met in the Science building where we played logic games and screwed around mostly. We had awesome bathing beauties. The scam worked)
Since you made the yearbook, we'll count it as a real club. Belated detention rescinded. pic.twitter.com/ZxKMX9LVMG
I also would like to encourage Kristen to do more video. Video is The Future™ and Kristen claims to be “From The Future” or some such on Gizmodo.
Tim Pool, @timcast did an astonishing piece on the water shortage of East Porterville and the CA drought in general.
My Great Grandfather immigrated to Tulare County in the Dust Bowl. I have tons of family in Tulare County and the Central Valley.
(My great grandfather left my teenaged grandmother in Missouri with relatives, she got married and went to Idaho.)
(Yes I have a diverse family)
My ex wifes family is in Porterville.
My ex father in law is a former enlisted Marine who was stationed in Taiwan.
Returning to the US he owned a 7 -11 in San Jose, but sold that operation and moved back to Porterville (home) to be a Psyche Tech at Porterville Developmental Center. He rose to Program Manager then acting Director of Porterville Developmental Center. My ex mother in law is deceased, however she worked as a Psyche Tech as well.
My ex wife is a Psyche Tech, her new husband is a Psyche Tech and my daughter works at Porterville Developmental Center as a student assistant as she studies to become a teacher.
Tim Poole also covered the devastation in the Midwest.
When I see Jack Dorsey accept CEO of the Year from the Thurgood Marshall Fund I can only laugh, or cry.
Jack Dorsey is the King of fake news and abuse.
He has also damaged race relations in politics immeasurably through polarization pushed on twitter’s platform with his tacit endorsement (and quite frankly open endorsement with open promotion of #blacklivesmatter.)
Bob Chipman, AKA @The_moviebob is simply the same overt hatred my Great Grandpa felt when he settled in Tulare County and walked miles each day to Tagus Ranch to work.
I reported the tweet and received the following response.
My mom’s dad, my Grandpa also was a Dust Bowl immigrant, however was nearly worked to death by a farmer in Salinas.
He went to Idaho. He worked New Deal construction for Morrison Knudsen. The same company that built the Golden Gate Bridge, I believe.
My dads parents were also in Idaho, and my parents met at Idaho State University. When my dad graduated he volunteered for the US Navy, went to OCS and was sent to the Vietnam War where he served on the USS Reeves in the Sea of Japan as a LT(jg).
My parents were lucky enough to live off base in Japan for years and tour a bit of Asia.
In all my life I have never felt such overt hatred as that leveled at me on Twitter daily by so called tolerant people.
Anyone that says something contrary to the approved opinion of Randi Lee Harper, Brianna Wu or the activists Jack Dorsey is set upon by a mob that they lead.
(1 of I don’t know how many. The whole thread isn’t presented here.)
I however am not helpless, nor intimidated by empowered abusers with the ear of Twitter .
I know Jack Dorsey did as much to elect Donald Trump as any person alive. I will leave that to historians to figure out how. I have said enough on the matter that anyone can figure it out.
Jack Dorsey endangers members of my family & has contributed to making race relations as bad as at any time in my lifetime. I can only relate it to 1968 & the Days of Rage where the most supported people in CA are rioting at a great college because they now feel violence is acceptable.
Women’s 1988-’89 Tennis Team — This team had only four players — Story Hurst, Chrissy Kulbeth, Michelle McGuire and Michelle Caskey — yet it won the Central Valley Conference championship in 1988 and then again 1989 with the addition of only two players, Vicki Esquivel and Christy Heint.
Ken Hurst — Hurst was the men and women’s varsity head coach at PC from 1982 through 1999. After 10 years of coaching at PC, his teams had won two thirds of all their matches. Even in Hurst’s last years of coaching at PC, the tennis programs thrived in every match with intense competitors to slay the big dragons.
Thank you for being you, and all that you do. I appreciate your journalism and professionalism.
The Arts & Sciences are profoundly important to a decent education however arts and science have been decimated in public schools.
Indeed, the US is no longer the number one place to receive an education according to one study, having slipped to 16 in the share of degree attainment of young adults according to the Washington Post.
President Trump plans to cut the budget for arts, planning to adopt the Heritage Foundation’s “skinny budget” according to report byFortune Magazine.
This would be a travesty at a time when educational attainment and science and math scores are slipping.
Music and the arts teach critical thinking and are intrinsically linked to math and science due to the critical thinking skills that music & arts teaches and requires.
The education Fresno Unified School District provided to my friends and I was topnotch, 2 magnet schools, Holland Project TALENT (now Bullard) and Roosevelt High School.
I can only tell you that our school did very well in Academic Decathalon, finishing second in CA my Senior year (my friends from junior high and high school were core of team, coached by legendary Dave Sischo) and of course anyone probably knows Audra has won the most Tony’sever.
To gut funding for the Arts & Sciences damages the funding for Roosevelt High School Performing Arts programs. Roosevelt is an inner city school (yup) which was actually bussed INTO my freshman year for desegregation.
I have been lucky to have talked to 2 Medal of Honor winners in my lifetime. Greg “Pappy” Boyington (who lived in Sunnyside behind a friends house) and General Chuck Yeager.
I only know General Yeager through twitter, however the joy I experience in talking to General Yeager is matched by the music in a symphony.
No music. No NASA. No Magic Carpet Rides. Simple as that.
I would remiss to point out that NASA is as unconstitutional as the National Endowment of the Arts, if we are going to get technical.
Quite frankly I think federal funding through Dept of Education should be used to balance out inequities between funding levels in school districts and to ensure that arts and sciences are taught at a high level as a priority.
That, and make sure kids aren’t hungry so they can learn.
