The other day a friend who is a screenwriter and uses a nom de plume was surprised to find that her non professional name and private information was linked to her public persona in the WhitePages app for android.
Feeling this was a danger, as she’d been stalked before and is private for a legitimate reason I tweeted to @whitepages.
Their social media team responded within a very short time, and my friends personal information was deleted from their online records.
This is ace customer service, and it’s greatly appreciated.
I have long hesitated to consider the Conservative base of the Republican party as extremist.
The party, with their xenophobic conservative base, bears no resemblance to the Republican party of Hope as exemplified by Ronald Reagan.
Donald Trump is now leading in polls by race baiting and pandering to the anti-immigration element the modern base of the Republican party.
Yet “leading” is a misnomer as no Republican polls well overall. Donald has about 20% of the Republican party supporting him, with an equal percentage of the party unwilling to vote for him at all.
As an ’80’s kid, Ronald Reagan remains my favorite President.
As former governor of California, he exemplified the best of California.
The hope, positive approach to life, and the beacon of The Shining City on The Hill that Ronald Reagan knew drew all immigrants with the will to get here, to the United States.
Ronald Reagan called on Mr. Gorbachev to tear down the walls, Donald Trump would have us build them to dim the light of Liberty.
My great-grandfather came to California in the Dust Bowl from Missouri.
He was met by some people like Donald Trump, the people that wouldn’t let you settle down, that made you move on.
However he found a home in Tulare, CA. And settled. And walked 5 miles every day to the Tagus Ranch on the north side of town to do farmwork.
He worked hard, bought a home, and raised a family. Many of my family still live in Tulare County and are growers.
Many are college graduates, proud Fresno State University grads.
I cannot stand that the Republican party has abandoned California in Presidential politics, and in this abandonment they get what they deserve as they won’t win the largest, most powerful state in the Union until they take our state seriously in electoral politics.
They seem to think they can abandon substantial chunks of the United States, and delve deeper into their race pandering populism, their intrinsically racist “Southern strategy” and elect Presidents.
I don’t think so, not unless they reverse course, and return to the hope of Reagan.
However the damage is done, and continues to be done by people like Donald Trump on a daily basis on a very large stage.
Many people simply do not forget, and will not forgive.
“Tulare dust, and a farm boys nose.”
This descendant of farmers smells shit, and Donald Trump is rolling in it.
The Republicans simply don’t do well enough in electoral politics to have 21% of their voters not willing to support their own candidate if he’s the nominee.
Sunday Morning
And All Is Well
A Gael Blows
Through Farmers Dell
Wet Winter Coming?
Do Foretell
2 El Nino’s In A Row?
Rarer Still
Another El Nino is forming already. This is amazingly rare and bodes well for California’s drought.
We just had one arrive, in late Spring, early Summer.
The El Nino’s ate arrival instead of during winter meant we didn’t get the full effect, and it’s brought rare rain in the summer. The summmr rains have not been sufficient to ease California’s drought.
Interactions yesterday with a Washington DC based political media hack who offered to do work for Donald Trump, @BlackandBlondM, reminded me of some basic precepts of the American system of justice.
That is a basic jury instruction in most jurisdictions and we are taught that guilt must be established beyond a reasonable doubt in a jury before our peers.
If there is any doubt, the person is to be found not guilty.
Sunday Morning Far From Shore
A Summer Thunderstorm
Surprise, For Sure
The Rain Brings Some Relief
From Severe Drought
To Keep Leaves Green
It’s highly unusual to have thunderstorms in the Central Valley of California in summer. With the El Nino weather pattern having arrived late towards the start of summer rather than in March or early spring the weather is highly unpredicatable.
It’s also good news that another, perhaps stronger, El Nino is forming in the Pacific. This brings hope for a wet rainy season next spring.
Governor Martin O’Malley walked back a comment made in public that “All lives matter.”
This is astonishing.
That Governor Martin O’Malley doesn’t realize that police should not be killing ANYONE extrajudicially is entirely problematic and emblematic of our political class that does not lead from a position of courage and belief as President Kennedy did, but a political class that simply exists to perpetuate it’s own power by otaining office by any means necessary.
He’s a complete embarassment, and I hope people realize that whether black or white, no one should be choked out, shot, or killed when not presenting a grave and imminent threat of death to a police officer who only then should be entitled to using deadly force in self defense.
He’s purely a hack. Thank goodness he has no chance to win.
